This is the capital of France and for so long this city has been known as one of the most romantic and beautiful of all cities by travelers. It’s very cosmopolitan and multi cultural so it boasts of a wide range of culture, food art, design and fashion. The city is home to some of the world’s best and most luxurious fashion designers and cosmetics like Yves Saint-Laurent, Chanel, L’Oreal, Dior etc.
With many iconic sites and landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Dame Cathedral etc. and numerous Michelin-restaurants (second highest in the world after Tokyo), Paris is one of the most popular holiday/vacation destinations in the world with about 45 million tourists annually.
The city is located north of the country on the River Seine and is divided into twenty districts (known as arrondissements) numbered 1-20 in a clockwise spiral from the city center. The districts are name according to their number and can be navigated easily using the city map (“Paris Pratique par Arrondissement”) which can be purchased for about 3-5 Euros at news stands. Tourist centers and city hotels also give various city and metro maps free of charge with all the necessary details for a tourist.
The best time to visit Paris is from April to June and October to early November, because the weather is not too hot and the number of tourists is smaller then during the hot summer months.
